2019: Our Year In Review

In News by Aaron Flick

It is safe to say that 2019 was our biggest year ever! We had so many milestones in 2019. Here are some of our favorites:

Wahl Clipper Corporation turned 100 years old!

In 1919, Leo Wahl filed for a patent for the first electromagnetic motor-powered clipper and the rest is history. Check out the documentary below as we take you through the past century.

1919 is Launched!

In June 2019, we launched the 1919 men’s grooming line! With the introduction of 11 products that include hair care, hair styling, beard care and skincare, Wahl created a fresh line of products barbers and stylists can use and sell to improve the level of style and service they offer their customers. Proceeds of all items purchased go towards funding the Wahl Fade it Forward program!

The Cordless Detailer Li is Here!

Your barber’s favorite trimmer has cut the cord. We were proud to introduce the Cordless Detailer Li in July at CosmoProf North America. This is quickly becoming one of the most popular products from Wahl. Pick one up for yourself via your local Wahl professional distributor.

Wahl Hosts Its First Pop Up Academy!

2019 was a big year in education for Wahl Professional USA. In August, we hosted our first hands-on Pop Up Academy in Chicago,IL. Wahl educator Nieves Almaraz lead the class through the 4 Blades to Fade and different techniques on how to use the Mentor clipper. We then held our 2nd Pop Up Academy in Long Island, NY in October. Be on the lookout for more Wahl education in 2020 including our next Pop Up Academy on February 10th, in Denver CO!

Andrew Rosario is Named the Winner of the 2019 Online Barber Battle!

After countless hours of vigorous judging, Andrew Rosario was named the winner of the 2019 Wahl Online Barber Battle. As the winner, Andrew will get a spot on the Wahl Education and Artistic Team in 2020. Competitors were tasked with demonstrating a Modern Mullet, Cesar, and Drop Fade in their video submissions and they did not disappoint. Also, not to be lost in the shuffle, Runner-Up Cory Hull did so well in the competition that he was also asked to join the team in 2020!

We Graduated Our First Two Members of the Fade it Forward Program!

We are saving the best news for last as we graduated our first two members of the Fade it Forward program this December. Andre Whittington and Sebastian Moore have both completed their barber hours and are on their way to a new career in barbering. The Fade it Forward program will be expanding in 2020 to three cities and will provide 14 total students with scholarships. Reminder: you can do your part to give back to the industry by purchasing an item from the 1919 line.

Thank you to everyone who supported us in 2019. We could not have done it without you. We have some HUGE plans for 2020 that we are really excited to share with you. Stay tuned!
